Charles “Tony” Piccuta
Charles “Tony” Piccuta is a second generation attorney. He is the principal of the firm and lead trial attorney. He is an accomplished attorney both academically and in practice. He is one of few attorneys admitted to practice in four states having passed the bar exams of Arizona, California, Illinois and Nevada—all on the first try.
Tony has a top educational background earning his Bachelor of Science degree from California Polytechnic in San Luis Obispo, California where he also earned minors in business and psychology. Tony then went on to score in the top ninetieth percentile on his law school entrance exam and gained admission to Indiana University School of Law in Bloomington. Tony attended law school on a merit scholarship and graduated with honors. (The Maurer School of Law at Indiana University is one of the best laws schools in the country consistently ranking in the top 35 by U.S. News and World Report—most recently #30 in 2018).
Tony began his law practice in downtown Chicago where he worked for a boutique personal injury law firm for two prominent Chicago attorneys. While there, he independently handled a caseload of over thirty cases and made court appearances and attended meaningful hearings immediately after passing his first bar exam. Tony litigated and resolved dozens of personal injury cases in his two years at the firm through arbitration, mediation and trial. He also assisted the principal attorneys on multi-million dollar injury cases including catastrophic car accident injuries, brain injuries, and aviation accidents cases.
Tony then relocated to Orange County, California where he took an attorney position with the national law firm of Houser & Allison. While there, he primarily defended banks, mortgage services companies and other fortune 500 corporations in both state and federal court. In doing so, he learned how the defense handles a case and the strategies used by large corporations and insurance companies to prevail in cases. Tony spent six years learning these strategies and techniques and successfully defended hundreds of cases in the process. He also tried multiple cases to verdict while there. Tony started the Arizona office of that firm and was the managing attorney of all its Arizona cases.
Taking this knowledge with him, Tony left that firm in 2013 to start his own practice specializing in representing individuals in personal injury cases. When Tony left, he was fourth in tenure and the firm had over sixty-five attorneys. He traded his accomplishments and stature there because he believed there was something more meaningful to the practice of law—helping those individuals truly in need. He has been representing injured individuals in Scottsdale and the surrounding areas ever since.
Tony has obtained six figure jury verdicts in both state and Federal court. He regularly handles cases in both state and federal courts and has multiple published decisions in the federal courts of Arizona and the Arizona State Court of Appeals.
He is a trial attorney who constantly works on expanding his trial practice. He regularly attends seminars and courses dedicated to honing the skills of trial attorneys. He is also active in the local legal community and is a contributing member of the Arizona Association of Justice, Maricopa County Bar Association and Scottsdale Bar Association.
When not handling injury cases in Scottsdale, Tony competes in Olympic distance triathlons and Spartan Races. Having attended college on a full ride athletic scholarship, Tony still remains an avid sportsman. Tony Lives in Scottsdale, Arizona with his wife, son and step-daughter and also spends time in Pebble Beach, California. Finally, Tony is a proud cancer survivor having beaten Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2013.
